Marquee Hire in Cape Town

Marquee hire in Cape Town runs from R1,500 for a 20-guest structure to R6,600 for 120 seated, and every rate includes delivery, erection, anchoring and the strike. Solid roof, sidewalls that go up or come down on the day, and an interior that can be lined and lit like a room. This is what you hire when the event has to happen regardless of what the weather does. Heating, flooring and full linings all available.

The fully enclosed option

A marquee is what you hire when the event has to happen regardless of weather. Solid roof, proper sidewalls that go up or come down, and an interior that can be lined and lit like a room. Rates run from R1,500 for 20 guests to R6,600 for 120 seated, delivery and erection included.

A stretch tent is the open, informal, view-facing choice; a marquee is the controlled one. Winter functions, formal dinners, corporate events with AV, anything where you cannot gamble on the weather.

What marquee hire includes

  • The structure, erected and anchored by our crew
  • Sidewalls — fitted, and removable on the day if the weather turns good
  • Optional roof and wall linings for a finished interior
  • Optional flooring, which matters on wet ground
  • Strike and collection afterwards

Lined or unlined?

An unlined marquee is a practical white structure. A lined one — pleated ceiling, dressed walls, uplighting — reads as a room and photographs completely differently. Lining is the single biggest upgrade available and typically adds around a third to the structure cost. For a wedding it is usually worth it; for a school fete it is not.

Glass and clear marquees

A glass marquee is the same aluminium frame with rigid clear panels in place of the walls, and often a clear roof with it. Glass marquee hire prices sit well above the figures in the table below — R12,000 a day and up is the normal Cape range, because the panels are heavy, slow to install and easily damaged. Hire one when the view is the reason for the event, or when a winter function needs daylight it would otherwise lose behind sidewalls.

The frame underneath a clear marquee is the one described on frame tent hire, which also covers clear-roof panels on a standard frame — a cheaper way to get most of the same effect.

Marquee hire prices

Marquee hire in Cape Town starts at about R1,500 for a 20-seater and reaches R6,600 for a 120-seater. Lining adds meaningfully to the figure — on a large structure it can add a third.

Marquee tent hire, and what the compound means

Marquee questions

Is marquee hire available near me?

Yes, throughout greater Cape Town, the Winelands and the Helderberg inside a 60km working radius. Full coverage on where we deliver.

How much does it cost to hire a marquee?

R1,500 for a small one up to about R6,600 for a 10m × 15m in the Cape market. Lining and flooring are the main add-ons.

What size marquee do I need for 50 guests?

A 6m × 12m marquee, 72 square metres, seats 50 guests at tables with room left for a bar. Standing or at a cocktail layout, 50 guests fit comfortably into a 6m × 6.8m at 41 square metres. Add a dance floor to the seated version and the working size becomes 10m × 15m, the largest row in the sizes table above.

How much is it to rent a small marquee?

R1,500 to R1,800 for a 6m × 3.4m, which seats about 20 guests. That is the smallest structure worth delivering and the rate still includes the crew putting it up and taking it down.

How much does a glass marquee cost to hire?

R12,000 a day and up in Cape Town. Clear rigid panels cost several times what canvas sidewalls do and take far longer to install, so a glass marquee is a different order of budget to the table above.

Can a marquee be heated?

Yes, and for a Cape winter evening function you should assume you need it. Tell us and we will include it in the quote.

How long does a marquee take to put up?

A day for anything substantial, so we normally install the day before the event.

Tell us the date and the headcount

We come back with a firm, itemised figure — structure, delivery, pitching and strike, each priced separately so you can see what to trim. Quoting costs nothing.
