A gazebo is the smallest structure we hire and the quickest to put up - a 3m x 3m frame over about nine square metres, from R250 a day. It is the right cover for a bar, a stall or a braai station, and the wrong cover for a whole seated event.

A gazebo is a light aluminium or steel frame with a fitted roof, usually 3m × 3m, that goes up in about ten minutes. Cape Town market rates run R250 to R300 a day. It is the right structure when you need cover for a function within a function — a bar, a registration desk, a food stall, a braai station, shade over a cake table — rather than cover for the whole event.

Gazebo hire in Cape Town runs R250–R300 per day for a 3m × 3m. A three-day market run is quoted as a block rather than three single days, and because gazebos are the fastest thing on the truck to erect, a same-week booking is usually possible.

Where a gazebo is the wrong call
A gazebo is the most wind-sensitive structure on this site. The frame is light, the roof is a sail, and the legs carry almost no weight of their own. On an exposed Cape site in the south-easter a gazebo needs a weight on every leg and still comes down before a stretch tent does. Two rules we do not bend: never leave a gazebo up overnight unattended in summer, and never use one as the main cover for a seated event. If the whole party has to fit underneath, you want a stretch tent hire instead — a 6m × 9m covers about 50 standing guests for R1,500 to R2,500.
How many gazebos for the space
Each 3m × 3m gives nine square metres. That is roughly 11 people standing at 0.8 m² a head, or one stall with room to work behind the table. Markets normally run a line of them at 3m spacing so stallholders share a walkway. Work out the floor area properly on what size tent do I need.

How much does it cost to hire a gazebo in Cape Town?
R250 to R300 a day for a standard 3m × 3m, and R350 to R450 for a 3m × 4.5m. Delivery inside the 60km working radius is in the rate.
Can I rent a gazebo for one day?
Yes. One day is the standard hire period for a gazebo, and it is the structure most likely to be free at short notice.
Are gazebos waterproof?
Yes for rain falling straight down. A gazebo has no sidewalls unless you ask for them, so driven rain comes in from the side. Sidewalls are available and are worth taking between May and August.
Do gazebos need to be pegged?
Yes on grass, and weighted on paving. A gazebo on a hard surface without a weight on every leg is not safe in Cape wind, and we will not leave one standing that way.
What is the difference between a gazebo and a stretch tent?
