Tent hire Cape Town › Table & Chair Hire
Table & Chair Hire
A tent is an empty space until there is something in it, and most enquiries arrive for the structure alone then need 120 chairs a week later. Round and trestle tables, folding and wooden chairs, cocktail tables, linen, crockery and cutlery, on one booking and one truck. Available without a tent as well.
The half of the booking people forget
A tent is an empty space until there is something in it. Most enquiries we take are for the structure alone, and then a week later the same customer is trying to source 120 chairs from someone else. Hiring both together is cheaper and it arrives on one truck, on one schedule.
What we hire
| Item | Typical use |
|---|---|
| Round tables (1.5m / 1.8m) | Seats 8–10. The standard wedding and gala layout. |
| Trestle tables (1.8m / 2.4m) | Long-table dining, buffets, registration and bar tops. |
| Folding chairs | The practical high-volume option for large events. |
| Wooden / cross-back chairs | Weddings and anything being photographed. |
| Cocktail tables | Standing events, drinks receptions. |
| Linen | Cloths, overlays and runners sized to the tables above. |
| Crockery & cutlery | Plates, glassware and cutlery by the setting. |
How much space furniture actually needs
This is where people undersize the tent. Seated guests at round tables need roughly 1.5–1.8 m² each once you count the table, the chair and the room to walk behind it — against about 0.8 m² for a standing guest. Seating your guests roughly doubles the tent you need.
That is why a seated wedding tent needs so much more floor than the same guest count standing.
Table and chair hire prices
Event furniture is priced per item and it is cheap next to the structure — plastic chairs from about R7.50 each, tables from about R40, so a 100-guest set of chairs and twelve tables lands near R1,300.
| Item | Suits | Typical market rate |
|---|---|---|
| White or black plastic chair | stacking, outdoor-safe | from ~R7.50 each |
| Wooden or café chair with cushion | styled events | from ~R30 each |
| Round table | seats 8 – 10 | from ~R45 each |
| Trestle / rectangular table | seats 8 | R40 – R50 each |
| Cocktail / standing table | 4 – 6 standing | from ~R100 each |
Tablecloth, linen, crockery and cutlery hire prices
Tablecloth hire and table cloth hire are priced per cloth, and crockery and cutlery per piece, so the bill scales with the guest count. These are published Cape Town rates from one furniture hirer's online catalogue, read in October 2026; VAT status is not stated.
| Item | Suits | Typical market rate |
|---|---|---|
| Plain or damask tablecloth | one per table | R65 – R75 each |
| Premium linen tablecloth | heavy stone or off-white linen | ~R185 each |
| Table runner | damask, lace or sequin | R35 – R45 each |
| Napkin | plain to patterned | R5.50 – R9.50 each |
| Chair cover | per chair | ~R10 each |
| Dinner plate | standard 27cm to gold rim | R6.50 – R15 each |
| Knife, fork or spoon | standard to gold finish | R4.50 – R10 each |
| Wine glass | standard to gold rim | R4.50 – R8.50 each |
A worked example for a 100-guest seated dinner on 12 round tables, at the standard end of each range: 100 chairs at R7.50 is R750, 12 round tables at R45 is R540, 12 tablecloths at R75 is R900, 100 napkins at R5.50 is R550, and 100 place settings (a R6.50 plate, three pieces of cutlery at R4.50 and a R5 wine glass, R25 a setting) is R2,500. That totals about R5,240 for the furniture and tableware.

Furniture questions
How much does tablecloth hire cost?
R65 to R75 for a plain or damask cloth, and about R185 for premium linen. One cloth covers one table, so 12 round tables on a standard cloth is about R900.
How much does crockery and cutlery hire cost for 100 guests?
About R2,500 for 100 settings at the standard end of the range — a R6.50 dinner plate, a knife, fork and spoon at R4.50 each and a R5 wine glass come to R25 a setting.
Can I hire chairs without a tent?
Yes. Furniture, linen and decor can all be hired on their own.
Do you deliver and collect furniture?
Yes, on the same booking and the same schedule as the tent.
How many people fit at a round table?
Eight comfortably on a 1.5m round, ten on a 1.8m. Ten on a 1.5m is possible but tight once place settings are down.
